Bingham – Lila Mae Lotspiech
Lila Mae (Starke) Lotspiech passed away suddenly in an accident on Wednesday, February 28, 2007.
Lila was born July 03, 1934, to Mildred (Butler) and Richard Walker at Bayard, Nebraska. She attended school in the Bayard area. On September 12, 1953, Lila was united in marriage to Monte Starke. To this union three boys were born: James, Edward and Lonnie Joe. Lila and Monte lived in Taylor, NE, at the start of their marriage and then moved to Bingham, NE, where she lived out her life. Monte passed away in 1985. In 1997, she married Howard Glen Lotspiech. Howard Glen passed away in 2002.
Lila took over the rural mail route from Monte after his passing in 1985 and loyally carried the mail for the past 22 years for the Ellsworth, Lakeside, and Antioch communities. She especially enjoyed her mail route, watching for wildlife, delivering mail to all the patrons, and giving treats and spreading love to the children on her route. She became a close friend to many of her mail route patrons.
Lila enjoyed life and took pride in her yard and flower gardens. She also enjoyed crocheting, doing various crafts, and playing dominoes with her friends. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She delighted in relating their accomplishments to all who would listen.
Lila was preceded in death by her husbands Monte and Howard Glen, one granddaughter, Brenda, her parents, one sister, Dorothy, her brother, Vernon, and two nieces.
Lila is survived by her sons, Jim (Cindy), Wilkes Barre, PA; Ed (Connie), Cheyenne, WY; Lonnie Joe (Joyce), Hemingford, NE; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; along with two sisters, Doris Novotny, Minatare; and Connie Knuth, Ainsworth.
Funeral Services will be held Monday March 5, 2007, at 1:30 p.m., at Bingham Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Bingham Cemetery. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m. at the church with cake following the interment services.
Memorials have been arranged for Victory Heights Bible Camp or the Womens' Auxillary of the Bingham Lutheran Church. These may be sent to Lonnie Starke at 9794 Hwy 71, Hemingford, NE 69348. The family offers their deep appreciation to all her loyal friends and those who have helped her through the years.
